Thirteen years ago, in 2004, we bought our first new car. Two weeks ago, we made up our collective minds and decided to get a new car: a Hyundai Elantra.
Since then, we have traveled 400km and we are very happy. The Elantra is, together with the Kia Cerato, its twin brother, one of the best value-for-money cars in Mauritius. Other cars are either lacking in performance or equipment level or cost too much for what you get… in our humble opinion of course and within our budget.
Getting a Korean car is quite a drastic change for us after having owned Renault cars for the past decade. But I have to say that the Elantra is comparable in comfort and feels much more modern. And good friends have assured me that servicing the car won’t cost us a leg and an arm… It’s a pragmatic choice. And, to be honest, Christina and I love being pragmatic.
