First of all, I would like to wish a very happy Mother’s day to all Mothers.
I’ve noticed that, little by little, Mother’s day is becoming Seller’s day. Listening to the radio or reading newspapers, it looks like someone can only be a good son or daughter if he/she buys expensive gifts for his/her mother. Interestingly, a lot of ads now are for electronic gadgets like smartphones, tablets and laptops. Times are changing.
What about those who just want to give their mother a few flowers? Or invite her for a nice family lunch? Or taking coloured chalk and writing a nice message on the floor like Anya and Kyan did for Christina?
After all, the point of Mother’s day is to express one’s love for his/her mother.
What do you think?

Same applies to any other “Day”. Religious festivals are not excluded to not say more intense selling day.

I also find it incredible that the trend is now for electronic gifts for mother’s day. I suppose I am old school but flowers were always normal in my days. I think your kids have got it right, be spontaneous and not commercial.

I agree…
The commercials for Mother’s Day are getting more and more closer to the bombardment for Valentine’s Day. Just disgusting and totally out of place.

@Mike : Even flowers have not been spared. Online sales of flowers as well as the price abnormally rises up to x-times on this “special” day.
Any opportunity is good to make business but sometimes spoiling the true pleasure behind the celebration. Just think about those hand written cards we used to send on different occasions. Nowadays, I only used postal services for getting my online purchases :P

These days any opportunity is good for sales. A couple of years ago I even saw an advert for ladies lingerie being advertised for mother’s day …
