I was reading with envy what people wrote about the defunct Spirited Away application for the Apple Mac. Unfortunately, the app has not been updated for a long time now and it is not Intel-compatible.
Fortunately while reading this, I stumbled upon a comment by someone called pbj:
“It should be also noted that Quicksilver can provide the functionality that [someone else] mentioned, whereby using QS to switch apps can automatically hide all other applications.”
Quicksilver! But I run Quicksilver! And I love it. So I quickly went to check the Preferences and as you can see in the above screenshot, the option to auto-hide applications when switching to another one is found in the Extras section.
One absolutely delicious (and unexpected) consequence is that this auto-hiding also happens when using the normal Alt-tab key combination! And also when clicking on the application in the dock!
It seems that this is my 250th post :-)

out of the blue, which version of wordpress are you using?
um, sorry if i can’t comment on your alt-tab thingy. I don’t really get to use Apple made PCs.
Never could get around the mono-button mouse concept….

damn. you beat me to it. I had just finished downloading it at the time of my last comment.
…but i was too sleepy to go install it. (yea i know. Ella came out 12 days ago. I was waiting for the dust to settle down)
your site does seem a bit different from before…

Actually, I’m using the same theme so visually nothing has changed except that I modified the theme some days ago (i.e. before I installed 2.1) to have a more prominent search box and a more visible list of related posts. That’s why you perceive a difference…
